Glencore is one of the world’s largest resource companies, Mount Isa Mines is the second largest producer of copper in Australia and one of the largest zinc mines in the world. It is a key asset in Glencore’s global mining portfolio. The Mount Isa Copper and Zinc operations are integrated across the entire supply chain, from resource identification and development to production and distribution of copper, zinc and lead to customers across the world.
Our operation is situated on land traditionally owned by the Kalkadoon People and we respect their rights and interests.
Our 2025 Apprenticeship Intake is now open! We know most Tradespeople, have a story on why and how they ended up in their trades – we would like to hear from you about your story and hear why you want to to our Apprenticeship Intake 2025
Positions will be offered at our Mount Isa Mines operations based residentially in Mount Isa for commencement in late January 2025 across the following trade areas:
- Electrical
- Auto Electrical
- Diesel Fitting
- Radio Technician
- Boilermaker
- Mechanic
- Fitter Machinist
- Refrigeration
- We will offer a wide range of apprenticeships across our Mount Isa Mines operations, to build skills and knowledge across multiple departments and assets. Rotation of our apprentices throughout operations for exposure across a variety of environments to provide a world-class start to your career.
- Our four-year Apprenticeship Program consists of on-the-job practical learning and off-site training with TAFE Queensland.
- Ongoing support and regular mentoring from our Leaders and Coordinator- Pathways
- Professional development that can lead to exciting career opportunities in the mining industry
- Exposure to both underground and surface operations
- Get paid while learning a trade, and access to many other benefits that are available to employees
- We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals, who want to embark on the journey of completing a 4-year apprenticeship
- Committed to gaining a nationally recognised qualification while being provided with the appropriate skills, training, and equipment
- Awareness to safety
- Able to work in a team environment
