The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

Brighter Beginnings is a whole-of-government initiative to give children the best start in life. It aims to provide families with the information they need, when they need it to make their decisions – a customer centric approach to empower families with clear, reliable and timely information, improve universal services that improve rates of participation in universal health, education and family services and target support and services for families that need it most – improve existing services and deliver evidence-based supports for families with additional needs.

This initiative is aligned with the NSW Health First 2000 Days approach which outlines the importance of the period from conception to age 5 in providing a basis for lifelong health and wellbeing. It outlines what actions people within the NSW health system need to take to ensure that all children have the best possible start in life.

We are seeking to engage a Senior Allied Health Clinician with Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or Speech Pathology qualification to take on the role as Brighter Beginnings Clinical Lead. The successful incumbent will lead the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation the Brighter Beginnings initiative of providing 4-year-old Health and Development Checks in early childhood settings.
