About the role
The Environmental Health Officer works in the Public Health team to administer and implement the legislative requirements contained within the Food Act, Public Health & Wellbeing Act, Environment Protection Act and Tobacco Act as delegated by Council.

Other responsibilities include:
  • Conduct food safety assessments of registered food businesses.
  • Apply Acts, associated regulations and codes to relevant premises through inspections, sampling, advice and education.
  • Investigate and report complaints received from the public and take necessary remedial action.
  • Issue notices and the required enforcement action to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
About you
We are looking for a collaborative and flexible team member with a passion for public and environmental health, and who thrives on working with local communities.

You have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deal with complaints, analyse issues and come up with solutions to create positive outcomes.
The following is also required:
  • Degree in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Experience in local government is ideal but not required.
