- Band 6, $48.01 - $52.38 per hour (dependent on experience) + superannuation

About the role
The Environmental Health Officer works in the Public Health team to administer and implement the legislative requirements contained within the Food Act, Public Health & Wellbeing Act, Environment Protection Act and Tobacco Act as delegated by Council.
Other responsibilities include:
- Conduct food safety assessments of registered food businesses.
- Apply Acts, associated regulations and codes to relevant premises through inspections, sampling, advice and education.
- Investigate and report complaints received from the public and take necessary remedial action.
- Issue notices and the required enforcement action to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
We are looking for a collaborative and flexible team member with a passion for public and environmental health, and who thrives on working with local communities.
You have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deal with complaints, analyse issues and come up with solutions to create positive outcomes.
The following is also required:
- Degree in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Experience in local government is ideal but not required.
