Media Coordinator (HEO 7) in the Market & Partner Engagement Domain

About the role

As the Media Coordinator you will be responsible for providing media services to support the creation of Adelaide University. You will collaborate with media and communication teams at the University of South Australia (Uni SA) and The University of Adelaide (Uo A) to create and execute media plans and develop news content to enhance the reputation and build the public profile of Adelaide University. Additionally, you will foster positive relationships with media organisations and professionals to enhance Adelaide University’s reputation.

Core Responsibilities


  • Coordinate local and international media opportunities, including press conferences, to achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Develop proactive media plans and strategies to support Adelaide University's creation.
  • Create, research, write, and distribute media releases, pitches, and case studies for various channels.
  • Manage media enquiries, liaise with relevant staff for responses, and provide high-level media advice.
  • Identify local, national and international earned media opportunities aimed at enhancing the new university’s reputation.
  • Research, prepare, edit and review editorial and advertorial content for external media.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience working for a media organisation or in media management and producing news for diverse audiences.
  • High-level communication, negotiation, influencing, writing and editing skills, especially for the media.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic issues management, media relations, and briefing senior managers on sensitive media issues.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement media plans and strategies to support reputation-building objectives.
  • Experience with digital media content and delivery, including social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex, fast-paced and changing environment and proven ability to network and build partnerships with key media contacts and stakeholders.
