The Role:
An opportunity exists for a driven and skilled Mental Health Nurse to join the Mental Health Division at Northern Health.

This new leadership role requires a whole of health service view to implement the Mental Health Division progress plan in support of the development of innovative and contemporary bed management methodologies.

The Bed Access Coordinator role for Northern Health Mental Health Division acts with delegated authority of the Executive Director Mental Health ensuring optimal access to adult and aged acute local bed stock. Ensuring access to acute mental health inpatient resources is person centred, transparent and timely in support of mental health care in the right care first time and in accordance with Mental Health and Wellbeing act 2022, Northern Health protocols and values. The Bed Access Coordinator will be based at the Epping Campus although will have a roving commission and be expected to proactively meet with relevant staff division wide as required.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Experience and good working knowledge of acute care bed-based management.
• Commitment to foster a culture of early escalation within services to resolve bed block and to support Northern Health to achieve key Access and flow KPIs.
• Advanced communication and problem-solving skill to ensure access requests are responded to in a fair, equitable and transparent manner.
• Experience in the participation and leadership of improvement activities within the Mental Health setting.
