About the role
The Director of Nursing demonstrates expert clinical, operational and professional leadership and management to provide advanced support, to optimise mental health forensic and secure services nursing practice and services. The Director of Nursing is accountable for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care aligned with West Moreton's strategic direction which supports quality practice standards within the West Moreton professional practice framework.
The Director of Nursing in conjunction with the Clinical Director, Forensic and Secure Services, Mental Health and Specialised Services (MH&SS) provides clinical and operational leadership and management to staff within Forensic and Secure Services to ensure that key service strategies and plans are achieved. This role works collaboratively to manage risks and achieve identified outcomes in key clinical, human resource and financial targets.
The Director of Nursing is the professional lead for all nursing staff of Forensic and Secure Services and as required, represents Mental Health and Specialised Services in relation to forums, discussions and actions regarding maintaining the highest level of nursing professional practice standards for Mental Health Forensic and Secure Services.
This position is jointly responsible for the provision of safe quality patient care with the Clinical Director, Forensic and Secure Services for High Secure Inpatient Services (HSIS), Extended Forensic Treatment and Rehabilitation Unit (EFTRU), Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (SMHRU), General Health Services (GHS) and the Prison Mental Health and Specialist Disabilities Assessment Outreach Team.
