Research Assistant/Research Fellow - Public Health & Health Literacy

Swinburne University of Technology is looking for either a Research Assistant or Research Fellow to join their exciting new project in the Centre for Global Health and Equity.

The Centre for Global Health and Equity is a research institution that focuses on designing, implementing, and scaling up research initiatives to improve public health, clinical practice, health systems, and policies in order to enhance health and equity for individuals and countries. The Centre's team consists of transdisciplinary researchers who work collaboratively to address inequities through co-design, partnerships, and training. Their work has had an impact in over 80 countries and is funded by various agencies including the NHMRC, NGOs, government agencies, and the World Health Organization. The Research Assistant or Research Fellow will support ongoing research projects by conducting tasks such as data collection, analysis, literature reviews, and project administrative duties. The role will contribute to advancing knowledge in health literacy, co-design, and health equity, and may involve participation in various research activities and training programs. The incumbent will be expected to continuously develop their expertise in scholarly research and professional practices.

The successful applicant will be hired as either Research Assistant or Research Fellow based on their qualifications and experience. Further information about this role can be found in the attached position descriptions.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in several of the following key accountabilities:


  • Statistical/quantitative analysis skills using software packages such as SPSS, STATA or R
  • Experience in conducting qualitative research, analysis, and use of software programs such as NVivo. Experience in psychometric research
  • A passion for public health and to improve health and equity among communities that experience inequities
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor of Public Health or Bachelor of Psychology or related undergraduate degree, preferably a Masters degree or working toward a Masters (Research Assistant)
  • Ph D in Public Health or related area (Research Fellow)
