Remuneration: AHP1/PO1 ($68,478 - $83,594 p.a. + 11.5% Superannuation)
Role Details
The Department for Child Protection is seeking employees to join their employment pool for various roles on a full-time, term and ongoing basis. The positions are located at our offices in Port Augusta, Port Lincoln and Whyalla. The roles are:
- Aboriginal Family Practitioner
- Case Manager
- Social Worker
We are looking for motivated and organised individuals who can understand the factors contributing to child abuse, including aspects related to child development, parenting, family dynamics, and environmental influences. You will confidently apply this understanding to your work and decision-making.
Our ideal candidates will be good communicators and can develop strong networks with key professionals and families. You will also have the ability to apply culturally sensitive child protection practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as well as for communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

About the Pool
Should you be successful, you will be advised (in writing) that you have been recommended onto this pool. The pool will remain active for 12 months and during this time you may be contacted for an offer of employment. You are not required to accept any or all offers made to you, and DCP is not obliged to offer you any opportunities.

Port Augusta
Port Augusta is 307 km from Adelaide and takes just over 3 hours to drive or a short 50 minute flight from Adelaide. The Port Augusta office employs approximately 34 people and is one of six offices in the region. As a member of this office you will work with other professionals to deliver services to Port Augusta, Iron Knob, Roxby Downs, Woomera, Andamooka, Quorn, Leigh Creek, Hawker and up to Maree (and everywhere else in-between!).

Whyalla
Whyalla is located 395kms North West from Adelaide on Eyre Peninsula’s Spencer Gulf or a short 30 minute flight from Adelaide. The town’s population of 22,000 makes it the third most populous city in the state of South Australia behind Adelaide and Mt Gambier.

Port Lincoln
Port Lincoln is located 647 km from Adelaide and takes approximately 7 hours to drive. Port Lincoln is situated on Boston Bay, one of the largest protected natural harbours in the world three times the size of Sydney Harbour.

Special Conditions
Essential Qualifications:
AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
