This is a temporary appointment with the possibility of ongoing employment.

We have a 12 month full-time opportunity for a level 1/2 Speech Pathologist to join our team to provide extended leave relief in adults and/or paediatrics.
We invite applicants who would like to work solely in adults or paediatrics or who would enjoy a mixed caseload. Please advise in application your preference on caseload.
The Speech Pathology service is based in Port Macquarie and provides a valuable outreach service to two hospitals and three community health centres in the area.
We provide evidence-based person-centred care, and focus on staff well-being. We use varying models of care, support professional development and also flexible work practices.
In Adults you would work predominantly with acute and rehabilitation inpatients gaining experience across many practice areas including stroke, aged care, and neurodegenerative conditions as well as opportunity to learn and be upskilled in FEES and VFSS.
In paediatrics you would provide assessment and intervention for children with speech, language, fluency and voice disorders. There is also the opportunity to gain experience with more specialised areas such as paediatric feeding and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Clinical supervision is prioritised and provided on site. Part time and job share will be considered. Experienced or new graduates are encouraged to apply.

What you'll be doing

Practising and promoting safe, efficient and effective Inpatient, Outpatient/Community care that reflects current standards of Speech Pathology practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures.

This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer.

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s. These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.
A TALENT POOL MAY BE CREATED FOR FUTURE ROLES AND WILL REMAIN VALID FOR 18 MONTHS.

Bachelor or post graduate degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.

Demonstrated ability to select and apply current theory and clinical practice in the assessment and management of adult communication and swallowing disorders.

Demonstrated ability and commitment to working in multidisciplinary and speech pathology teams

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage an inpatient and outpatient caseload.

Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

Current unencumbered Driver's Licence
