An amazing opportunity exists to be part of a wonderful program and to join our dedicated team. The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and The Statewide Eyesight Preschooler Screening (St EPS) program is looking for an exceptional person to join our Illawarra-Shoalhaven team in the role of ‘Vision Screener’ to provide screening services for children throughout the Illawarra-Shoalhaven Local Health District, in particular from Shellharbour to Ulladulla.

The role is a casual position to work approx. up to 16 hours per week. There may also be prospects in the near future to transition to a permanent part-time role.

Typically, shifts are 4 hours per day between the hours of 9am to 1pm with some flexibility. No experience in vision screening is necessary and all training will be provided.

Candidates must have an NSW driver’s licence with their own vehicle.

What you'll be doing

Conducting vision screening in preschool and child care facilities throughout South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) and Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD). No experience in vision screening is necessary as full training is provided.

Direct hands-on experience working or supervising 3-6 year old children.

Highly effective and professional written and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability to work both in a team and individually with limited supervision.

Ability and knowledge in handling sensitive information.

Ability to communicate with parents who may be distressed in a professional manner.

Good computer skills including the use of excel and the willingness to learn new IT systems and programs as per the needs of the program.

Full NSW Driver’s licence with own transport.
