Position:
The ECF EU Institutional Relations Programme (or the EU team) core mission is to navigate European and national politics and build political will for accelerated climate action at EU-level. The team works with a wide range of partners in civil society, think tanks, business groups and the research community in support of these goals in Brussels and European capitals. We are looking at under-represented voices and angles and how they can shape EU politics beyond traditional climate allies. 2024 and 2025 are pivotal years for the EU as the new Institutions are taking office and shaping the European priorities for the new mandate (2024-2029). The ECF EU team is supporting the Foundation and its partners to prepare for the new EU political cycle and identify the key political debates and impactful narratives to raise climate ambition.Key responsibilities:
Your main missions will include the following:
- Monitor news and run an autonomous project to keep the EU team up to date on the latest political developments around clean industry, climate finance, energy, and other topics;
- Develop and maintain stakeholders' mappings (e.g. within the European Parliament, European Commission, etc.);
- Support drafting of readouts round key political events (e.g. European Council meetings, events during the Presidency of the Council of the EU);
- Draft notes and analysis from internal and external team meetings;
- Attend various events and share key insights or summaries with team members (e.g. conferences and roundtables organised by ECF partners);
- Support the EU team in organising meetings or events;
- Support the EU team in coordinating internal processes (e.g. organising Monday.com boards, chairing team meetings, etc.).
Requirements:
Experience and competences
- A genuine interest in the mission and values of the organisation;
- A university degree in a field of relevance to climate policy (political science, economy, environment...);
- Good knowledge of the main discussions around climate & energy, EU policy-making processes;
- Proven ability to work well under pressure, be autonomous, take initiative and be a creative problem solver;
- Enthusiastic personality, with a positive, can-do attitude;
- Strong administrative and computer skills (Power Point, Excel);
- Fluent in English, command of other European languages (both spoken and written) is an asset.

Location
Brussels office, with possibility for some home office (2 other team members are in the Brussels office, 1 in Vienna and 1 in Paris).
Start date
As soon as possible - preferred start date is September or October 2024 (duration of 6 months).
