We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer based in Diegem, Belgium. The purpose of this role is:

• To continuously deliver technical and implementation architecture design and standards and provide 3rd line operational support.
• To act as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) or the deployment of Global Aviation EGAP applications, to support business initiatives both at Global and Regional level.
• To be responsible for the project management, implementation and reporting for the Regional/Global initiatives.
• To work with and provide technical consultancy to internal/external DHL customers to support the implementation planning for the successful deployment of new infrastructure technologies.
The response to and resolution of issues with both the regional and global infrastructure server environment setup hosted within the GAIT and region for the infrastructure to ensure maximum provision of service.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

• Ensure implementation of new services and changes to existing services in the Production/Development environments are in line with customer project plans and requests
• Provide 3rd level and problem management support for Infrastructure Components and Services
• Act as primary interface to GAIT for Infrastructure Components and Shared Services
• Drive continuous infrastructure optimization/automation from the technical side
• Ensure build standards for infrastructure platforms are aligned and managed across GAIT data centers
• Provide technical expertise to resolve third level technical support issues and ensure that all escalations are successfully resolved and that all emergency fixes/changes are appropriately documented and implemented
• Design and implement infrastructure improvements such as virtualization and/or shared platforms
• Develop procedures and tools for build of the improving delivery or operations of infrastructure, both technical and process based
• To design and create server build standards for technology for improving current infrastructure and hosting new applications
• Interprets technical or procedure manuals on behalf of non-technical users and provides routine training in normal usage of systems, products and services, providing information on the full range of capabilities
• Responsible for the implementation of solutions which are scaleable and supportable and aligned with global standards and industry best demonstrated practices
Leads technical projects in given area of expertise, such as Operating System, Hardware, Database, Middleware, or infrastructure applications

Do you have what it takes?

• BA/BS in Computer Science or IT related discipline or extensive experience of minimally 3-5 years as an Infrastructure Architect/Engineer
• Senior engineering level knowledge of technology product in currently supported version and one version back in a large enterprise exchange environment. Be at the top of the possible knowledge of the future versions to think about the near future design of the infrastructure
• Working knowledge and/or certification in Operating Systems/Hardware /Database/Middleware /Monitoring/Infrastructure applications
• Relevant knowledge of technology for computing, data storage, printing e.g. High end server hardware (classical standalone servers, blade technologies), Storage (SAN, NAS, backup), virtualization platforms and technologies, interoperation of all these technologies as applicable to subject matter expertise
• Very strong System’s Management Methodologies to ensure performance and capacity measurement and management of systems and hardware components, e.g. performance Monitoring and Capacity Management
• Familiar with Report Writing Techniques Methods and techniques for writing effective reports
• Some scripting & programming skills are necessary, good experience would be an advantage
