Associate Director, Safe Scouting
Location: Remote in Canada

Scouts Canada is seeking an Associate Director of Safe Scouting to join our Safe Scouting team. Reporting directly to the Director, Safe Scouting, you will act as a trusted advisor to volunteers and staff on all matters relating to incident management, safety practices, and overall safety leadership.
This role is remote, and the candidate can be located anywhere in Canada.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Supporting the development and implementation of Scouts Canada’s safety framework in place to achieve its safety leadership aims.
· Ensuring sufficient processes are in place to ensure compliance to Scouts Canada’s safety and risk management policies.
· Managing safeguarding case files from initial report to file conclusion, implementing appropriate actions throughout.
· Administering Scouts Canada’s incident management process ensures incidents are appropriately investigated and that root causes are employed to support learning and improvement of organizational practices.
· Assessing all safeguarding allegations made against those involved in Scouting’s work
· Conducting membership reviews/procedures for safeguarding/youth protection incidents
· Providing support to Groups, and Councils to ensure effective responses to safety complaints and incidents.
· Maintaining and updating the Policies and Procedures of Scouts Canada.
· Ensures that an effective case assignment and management practice is in place such that all incidents are handled professionally and in keeping with Scouts Canada’s policies
· Supervises safeguarding casework and provides guidance and coaching to Safe Scouting staff, as appropriate, to ensure standards of quality and care are met
· Other duties as assigned.
Competencies Required:
· Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with all levels of management, staff, volunteers and outside partners.
· A fact-based approach to problem-solving.
· Detail-oriented with the ability to follow procedures and rules while maintaining accurate and detailed notes.
· Be able to deal with sensitive situations in a calm, measured manner.
Education, Experience & Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in case management, social work, occupational health and safety, conflict or incident management, preferably in a nonprofit or association environment.
· An understanding of the legal framework pertaining to child and youth safety
· Experience delivering or supporting Scouts Canada programs is an asset
· Understanding and acceptance of fundamental values of Scouting
· Relevant work experience in providing professional support to volunteers or varied stakeholders
Working Conditions:
· Works in a remote home office
· Some work is extremely deadline-driven
· Occasional travel
· Must remain discrete and maintain high levels of confidentiality
· Must role model values of Scouts Canada be including the Child and Youth Safety program.
· PRC (Police Record Check) and VSS (Vulnerable Sector Check) are required before the start date
· Mandatory training requirement

Salary depends on skills and experience. The salary range for this position is $67,206.91- $79,067.86 per annum
