Location and Reporting Structure

Responsibilities

• The overall installation, testing and commissioning of electrical components relates to the Mineral Processing plant, surface facilities and camp in compliance with regulations and B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures;
• Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new installations;
• Install Distributed Control System (DCS) devices and related instrumentation;
• Install electrical power distribution equipment such as MCC’s, transformers, generators, voltage regulators, switches, circuit breakers, capacitors, ground grid and fabricate control panels;
• Inspect installed electrical equipment using volt meters, ammeters and other electrical test instruments and equipment;
• Maintain documentation of maintenance reports, QA/QC and materials used;
• Test circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement, or repair; and
• Participate in safety toolbox talks to promote compliance with B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

• Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician ticket with a minimum of 5 years prior experience on large industrial projects preferably related to the mining industry;
• Interpreting electrical drawings and schematics required, with preference given to those with a prior working experience on high voltage systems and fiber-optic installations in mining operations;
• Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and industry best practices; and
• Experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources is considered an asset.
