Mobile Equipment Program Manager

Salary Range: $96,100 – $106,700 per annum
Location: Remote Position – Reporting to the Prince George, BC

As Mobile Equipment Program Manager at Drax, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our mobile equipment fleet across North America. You will oversee the auditing of equipment and training, collaborate with the procurement team on the onboarding of new equipment, and evaluate the suitability of equipment for various tasks. Additionally, you will implement best practices for traffic flow within fibre yards, ensure compliance with rail regulations, and provide on-site support during regulatory inspections. Your expertise will help drive continuous improvement in safety and operational performance, supporting Drax’s commitment to excellence and safety in all aspects of our operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit all North American mobile equipment pedestrian interfaces: Regularly review and assess the safety and efficiency of interactions between mobile equipment and pedestrians across all North American sites.
  • Assist with mobile equipment-involved incidents: Support incident investigations involving mobile equipment to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Audit training records and materials: Ensure all training records are up-to-date and that training materials meet current standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with procurement and vendors: Work closely with the procurement team and key vendors to facilitate the onboarding of new mobile equipment, ensuring equipment meets operational and safety standards.
  • Evaluate equipment suitability: Assess the appropriateness of equipment for specific tasks, ensuring the selection of the right tools for the job.
  • Optimize traffic flow: Analyze and implement optimal traffic flow patterns within fibre yards to enhance safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with rail regulations: Oversee compliance with rail regulations at all sites, ensuring all practices align with legal requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date rail training: Ensure all rail-related training and task evaluations are current and meet regulatory standards.
  • On-site support for inspections: Be present during site inspections by regulatory bodies to provide support and ensure compliance.

About you

You'll possess the following skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Ives Train certification.
  • Mobile equipment experience: Extensive experience operating mobile equipment in a relevant industry.
  • Knowledge of pellet operations: Previous experience and understanding of operations process flow within pellet production or similar environments.
  • Safety leadership: A strong commitment to safety, adhering to Drax’s Golden Rules of Safety, and promoting a culture of safety within the team.
  • Interpersonal and analytical skills: Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration, along with strong analytical skills for problem-solving.

  • Communication with stakeholders: Keep key stakeholders informed of any changes, working collaboratively to ensure regulatory best practices are followed.
  • Support site leadership: Assist site leadership in addressing mobile equipment-related inquiries and challenges, providing expert guidance and support.
