We are looking for an Operator/Maintainer who is highly motivated, adapts to changing situations and priorities, interacts well with others, and demonstrates the ability to work both independently and effectively as part of a team. The work schedule is a 12-hour shift with a 7 on 7 off rotation (day and night).
This is a great opportunity for a driven and safety-oriented individual to contribute to the IOC team. Applicants will be considered for Operator/Maintainer vacancies in the Load & Haul division of Mine Operations (Haul Truck Drivers).

We are a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. With a team of over 2,700 employees, IOC is committed to providing value and continuity for our customers, employees, communities and shareholders through our unique mine to port approach, taking advantage of our full integration and wholly owned infrastructure to deliver our high-quality concentrate and pellets to our customers across the globe.
IOC’s operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also operate a wholly-owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L), that links our Labrador operations to Company-owned port facilities in Sept-Iles.

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will:
- Work safely through appropriate behaviors and adherence to IOC safety standards.
- Keep work area safe, clean and well maintained. Take timely action to correct unsafe work conditions in the work area.
- Be responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, and control of equipment to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Communicate all unresolved safety and process deficiencies to the supervisors involved.
- Provide feedback to supervisors regarding equipment performance.
- Maintain a continuous improvement focus by developing and participating in implementation of appropriate solutions to eliminate the issues/problems identified in the work area.
- Challenge the way the work is done.
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license; other classes will be considered an asset; preference will be given to candidates with a Class 1 or 3 driver’s license;
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; or relevant post secondary training (i.e. Heavy Equipment Operator Course) or sufficient years of demonstrated relevant experience;
- Previous experience with heavy equipment or in an industrial environment will be considered an asset.
