Key Responsibilities:
  • Photo Research & Editing: Pitch, source, and produce high-quality, visually striking images for HELLO! Canada’s print and digital platforms, ensuring every visual meets our editorial standards.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay ahead of the curve on celebrity, entertainment, and royal news to make informed editorial decisions and bring fresh visual ideas.
  • Content Development: Collaborate closely with our art and editorial teams to brainstorm and execute visual content for our print, digital, and social media platforms. Your visuals will help shape the stories that define our brand.
  • Social Media Strategy: Work hand-in-hand with the social media team to create dynamic visuals for Instagram, Tik Tok, and Facebook, driving engagement and growing our audience.
  • Brand Alignment: Ensure all visuals align with HELLO! Canada’s style, tone, and mission while pushing creative boundaries to keep content fresh and innovative.
  • Photography Coordination: Oversee photo shoots, hire freelance photographers, liaise with talent, and ensure all imagery is top-notch and fits our brand’s visual identity.
  • Licensing & Budget Management: Oversee photo budgets, manage licensing agreements, and negotiate with photo agencies to secure the best deals under tight deadlines.
  • Trend Monitoring: Experiment with new photography and social media trends to ensure HELLO! Canada’s visuals remain cutting-edge and relevant.
  • Cross-Platform Integration: Ensure visual content flows seamlessly across print, digital, and social platforms, maximizing its impact on each.
  • Vendor Relations: Maintain strong relationships with PR companies, photo agencies, and freelance photographers to secure the most compelling material at the best rates.


Qualifications:
  • Education: Degree in Journalism, Photography, Visual Arts, Media, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in photo editing, content development, or a similar role in the media industry.
  • Key Skills:
    • Proficient in image editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom) and photo research.
    • Solid understanding of copyright law and photo licensing, with experience negotiating photo rights.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
    • Expertise in visual storytelling across print and digital platforms.
    • An eye for compelling visuals and a strong sense of celebrity, entertainment, and royal news trends.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills with a network of industry contacts.
  • Social Media Expertise:
    • Proven experience creating visually compelling content for social media platforms, especially Instagram, Tik Tok, and Facebook.
    • Strong understanding of social media best practices, including how visuals can drive engagement, increase followers, and grow brand presence.
    • Ability to develop and execute a visual strategy that aligns with the broader social media goals of the brand.
    • Familiarity with social media management tools and content calendars.
  • Bonus Skills:
    • Experience commissioning editorial photography.
    • Familiarity with video editing and multimedia content creation.
    • Previous work experience in entertainment or celebrity media is a strong asset.
