The Student Placement Coordinator will be an integral member of a collaborative and inter-disciplinary team focused on ensuring the delivery of exemplary care to our residents.
JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager of Quality, Innovation and Learning and working in collaboration with clinical leadership, committees, and departments, the Student Placement Coordinator is responsible for the onboarding, orientation and management of student placements in compliance with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations and LTC home-specific policies.
This position will lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning opportunities designed to enhance clinical proficiency, promote leadership and teamwork skills. To facilitate and manage student placements, the Student Placement Coordinator will act as the liaison between the LTC home and educational institutions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & SUCCESS CRITERIA:
- Develop new or maintain existing partnerships with colleges and universities for the successful placement of students in the LTC home.
- Plan and execute orientation to the LTC home, including, but not limited to, providing tours and introducing students to residents and team members.
- Promote and recruit team members into a preceptor role.
- Coordinate the placement schedule and pair students with preceptor team members in consultation with the clinical team.
- Coordinate the evaluation of the student placement program in the LTC home, including, but not limited to, preceptor and student feedback on the experience.
- Liaise with LTC-home preceptors to ensure they have the knowledge and resources to support students.
- Identify opportunities and methods to improve processes for a sustainable student placement program.
- Inform students of available employment opportunities in the home, and participate in recruiting students to positions post-placement.
- Maintain complete records of all required documentation (insurance, WSIB) related to organizational liability associated with clinical placement agreements.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment to one’s own personal and professional development, staying aware of emerging trends, professional practices, legislation, and theories.

- This position may be required to perform additional related job functions beyond this description.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related field (e.g. nursing, and other allied health).
- At least one year of current related experience in project coordination or management.
- Experience engaging with organizational partners.
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations
- Strong competency in Microsoft 365 suite, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with a learning management system or other learning software.
- Highly effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills combined with excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills to support the effective prioritization and management of multiple requests and tasks.
- Collaborative team player with strong influencing skills who easily builds effective working relationships with colleagues, senior leaders and stakeholders in order to move initiatives forward.
