Scientist – PU Slab Job responsibilities will mainly focus on silicone surfactants and polyurethane (PU) flexible foam additives development, polyurethane foam preparation and performance evaluation at varied PU flexible foam applications. Key market areas: conventional slabstock foam, flame lamination flexible foam, high resilience slabstock foam, and viscoelastic foam application. The candidate for this position will conduct new product research and application development work to drive the growth of Momentive’s PU Slab business in China region. Coordinate the safe operation of the CTC PU RD Laboratory, maintain state-of-the art equipment to support the daily operation and research work.

• Preparation and evaluation of various additives in PU Flexible foam application, these will be including product synthesis, PU foam preparation, physical properties testing and performance evaluation.
• Develop new products for the allocated projects/tasks based on unmet customer needs in PU Flexible foam application with the guidance of supervisor
• Following up-to-date polyurethane foam literature and patent to continuously transform the ideas into new product development.
• Summarize and report experimental/projects results regularly with the proper documents. Protect proprietary information.
• Support the qualification of alternative suppliers for strategic raw materials and intermediates.
• Maintain lab equipment. Prepare and update technical documentation including JSA, MOC, SOPs and Calibration Record etc. to fully follow the company policy or standard.
• Work closely with other PU Slab team members to define the needs for future CAPEX investment and execute the CAPEX projects.
• Active Engagement in EHS management system and comply site EHS procedures and policies. Embrace a safety mind-set into day-to-day work.
• Drive safety initiatives, ISO, 5S et.al events in CTC PU RD team and facilitate internal or external EHS and quality audit.
• Ensure deeply understanding and strictly comply with company compliance policy.

• M. S in Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry/Science.
• Or B.S with 3-5 years’ working experience in laboratory of the chemical company and demonstrated the ability to work independent in lab in a safe manner.
• Demonstrated the skills in polymer science or Organic Chemistry from synthesis to application.
• Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques including structure characterization and related analytical techniques.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented, with careful attention to detail and high level of initiative ability to be flexible and to work on multiple tasks at any given time.
• Be able to effectively communicate with supervisor and other team members.
• Fluent in Mandarin language both verbal and written. Good English skill in

• Working knowledge of standard PC and Office 365 software operations. Having SAP experience is a plus.

• M.S degree in Chemistry, or Organic Chemistry or Polymer Science.
• Good listening and communications skills – verbal, written both in Chinese and English.
• 1-3 Polyurethane application experience is preferred.
