Staff II Accountant (Remote)
Full time, Costa Rica

This position is responsible for the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, Intercompany billings, and related processes/responsibilities as assigned.
As a Staff II Accountant, you will
- Prepare monthly journal entries as assigned or on an ad hoc basis and ensure that entries are supported with the appropriate documentation.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations by assigned deadlines; potential areas include but are not limited to cash, fixed assets, accounts receivable, liabilities/accrual accounts, and Intercompany transactions.
- Identify potential issues/errors related to assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure that they are documented and communicated to the management team and related parties.
- Address any questions that arise from associates and managers on matters relating to the general ledger and posted items.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with the General Ledger team as well as multiple Finance teams, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Intercompany contacts, and other parties as needed.
- Assist with preparing and organizing audit support during the Interim and YE financial audits.
- Use vlookups, pivot tables, and other intermediate to advanced Excel functions.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- *Must be fluent in English, please submit resumes in English*
- Minimum of two years of accrual accounting experience with general ledger emphasis.
- Knowledge of Accounting practices under IFRS standards.
- Experience with ERP/accounting software for large businesses (SAP, People Soft, etc.)
- Must be able to work in a team environment as a role model, supporting management & staff, following policies, providing feedback, assisting in special projects, and taking on additional responsibility.
- Must have analytical/problem-solving skills - anticipating, initiating, and resolving issues.
- Must have attention to detail and complete tasks accurately and within a reasonable time frame.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred).
- Knowledge of the travel industry is a plus.
