Director, Head of Knowledge Facilitation

We are looking for a new Head of Knowledge Facilitation, a critical team lead role, to further our mission.
As a visionary leader with a bias towards action, you will have the responsibility to systematically build-up our knowledge on Learning through Play, create compelling sharable content for our partners, and facilitate meaningful connections across communities of practice around the world.

Background context
The LEGO Foundation funds and enables research institutions, civil societies, non-profit and multi-lateral organisations, who share our core value that Learning through Play is critical for children to thrive as actively engaged lifelong learners.
Beyond funding, there is a large untapped opportunity to add significant value for our grantees through knowledge facilitation. We want to transform how we learn from, with and for our network of grantees and partners to enable bigger impact. We believe we can have an outsized role in harnessing the expertise from our network of grantees and partners to amplify the reach & relevance of our collective research findings, operational learnings and insights on Learning through Play.
As Head of Knowledge Facilitation, you will be a Team Lead within the Learning through Play team. Internally, you will work closely with other Team Leads responsible for Research, Design, Programmes, Communications & Advocacy, and Measurement Evaluation & Learning as well as the executive leadership team of the LEGO Foundation. Externally, you will have close contact and relationships with grantees, our partner organisations, and stakeholders of the LEGO Group ecosystem.
Your Responsibilities
- Form, lead, and develop a team of experts in Learning through Play, including competence building for knowledge translation, content writing & editing, knowledge operations, and community management
- Set and be accountable for Knowledge Facilitation team goals, value proposition, objectives, action plan and budget, aligning to overall LEGO Foundation vision and strategy
- Mentor, coach and manage team members, so that they can excel and grow, while holding team members accountable for performance metrics and quality standards
- Contribute, model and champion joyful high-performance work environment, building on culture of transparency, trust, collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement and excellence
- Drive change management of both process and technology for needs analysis, content development, and knowledge facilitation
- Demonstrate client service mindset towards grantees and partners with deep sense of empathy for the varied contexts in which they operate
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and other functions or departments (eg. research, design, comms & advocacy, programmes, operations) and senior leadership
- Represent the LEGO Foundation in external meetings and conferences
About You
Passionate about the LEGO Foundation’s purpose and values, you bring curiosity, a continuous learning mindset, playful spirit, and creativity to your work. We are looking for someone with:
- People leadership: Extensive direct people management experience with track record of driving outcomes through collaborative methods. Has maturity to build, lead, coach, and develop cross-functional team of experts in content marketing, knowledge management or knowledge translation.
- Hands-on experience: Extensive industry experience in advanced writing, editing and storytelling for differentiated audiences. Experience with content management systems and content performance reporting.Demonstrated ability to communicate and translate learning science research, pedagogies, education policies and other technical Learning through Play topics for wider audience, strongly preferred
- Leadership style: Approaches challenges with curiosity and non-assuming attitude. Creates playful, collaborative, creative work environments that draws the best of individual and team.
- Change management: Experience leading transformations that drive lasting cultural change, process improvements and impact. Has professional toolkit for setting practices, processes and systems that become and team norms and culture. Track record of effectively managing and influencing not just direct reports, but rest of organisation.
- Structured strategic approach: Ability to align team goals with LEGO Foundation objectives through strong strategic thinking and planning skills. Ability to balance pragmatism with fresh innovative solutions for high-quality outcomes.
- Communication: Effectively breaks down complex concepts to simplify communication. Good listener and effective thought partner for team members. Strong verbal and written communicator who has uncanny ability to translate complex technical topics to the right level, depending on target audience.
- Experience and background integrating latest technology platforms to strengthen organisation effectiveness (including use of AI-enabled tools, or data analytics and reporting on content performance, project or product management tools), a plus
- Experience in knowledge industries (eg. management consulting, research centers, policy think tank) or strategic content or knowledge management role in philanthropy or venture capital, a plus
