The research projects are typically funded under e.g. Horizon Europe, Copernicus, ESA and EUMETSAT. The position is anchored in NCKF which is a department with a strong profile in both global and regional climate modelling as well as remote sensing, but you will work with all departments across DMI. You will be managing several tasks centred around the identification of opportunities and the preparation of proposals for major grants, particularly in Horizon Europe, ESA, Digital Europe and Copernicus.
As our new colleague, you will work closely with a diverse group of both researchers and DMI’s administrative, financial and legal staff, as well as the NCKF management. A part of the work will be carried out in close collaboration with researchers at other European research institutions.
Main working tasks
- Coordinate DMIs research projects and consortia in the proposal phase
- Screening of research calls and identification of relevant calls for DMIs area of interest.
- Advice researchers about the possibilities in EU research programs and other relevant programs
- Contribute to writing part of research proposals, and provide feedback to ongoing applications
- Provide support on administrative and financial tasks of proposals (including project budgets)
- Initiate cooperation and networking with international research institutions
- Coordinate DMIs input to national and international research programmes
- Organize internal workshops on funding opportunities and proposal preparation.
- Msc. or Ph D from a university or equivalent.
- Experience with European science landscape and/or in working with European funding agencies.
- Experience in preparing EU project proposals.
- Experience in supporting scientists in the acquisition of new EU projects, including collaborative approaches.
- Operational experience or knowledge of finance and accounting in the public sector, and of dealing with third-party funding or grants.
- You have a hands-on, agile mindset with good communication and teamwork skills.
- You have strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and actors on parallel tasks, in a committed, constructive and goal-oriented manner.
- Excellent English both written and spoken.
The position as Pre-award Grants Advisor is anchored within the unit ‘Secretariat, Projects and Climate Advice’, which covers a group of 14 generalists, project managers and administrative staff, who work in close collaboration with colleagues in the DMI departments for e.g. Finance & Facility Management and Policy & Strategy. We have a strong international profile, which is also reflected in the many nationalities employed and in a combined English and Danish working language.
Employment Employment and salary will be according to the Danish Law and Agreements, depending on previous experience. It will be possible to apply for an addition to the basic salary. Employees, who are recruited from abroad, and who are able to meet certain conditions, have the opportunity to work in Denmark for a period of 60 months under a special 26 % tax rate without deduction, instead of working under the regular income taxation.
DMI offers a flexible working week of 37 hours including a paid lunch break, and six weeks of paid vacation annually. The employment area is within the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Facilities and associated institutions. DMI is located at Sankt Kjelds Plads 11, 2100 Copenhagen Ø, Denmark. Physical presence is expected at least on a weekly basis.
