Teaching assistant to Finnish Language Teacher

Position: Teaching Assistant for Finnish Language Teacher
Location: Turku
Employment Type: Part-Time or negotiation based
Reports To: Finnish Language Teacher
Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Finnish language teacher in preparing and delivering lessons, working closely with them to ensure effective teaching.
2. Provide translation and grammatical explanations in Finnish and Chinese during class.
3. Participate in oral practice sessions to help the students improve their language skills.
4. Support and help Chinese adult students individually or in small groups to enhance their understanding of the Finnish language.
5. Assist with administrative tasks such as taking attendance, grading assignments, maintaining student records, and recording classes.
6. Prepare necessary translation materials and classroom activities in Chinese to help the teacher ensure successful teaching.
7. Help and answer students' questions related to the Finnish language, language learning, and life in Finland to enhance their capacity for using the Finnish language and adapting to life in Finland.
8. Communicate with administrators to support student learning.
9. Coordinate with vocational schools and high schools for student placement, assist students in obtaining residence cards, liaise with immigration authorities, and help students choose their specializations.
We want you to have
1. B2 or higher Finnish language proficiency
2. Excellent (if not native speaker level) Chinese language proficiency
3. Previous experience in a teaching or educational support role is preferred.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work collaboratively with the Finnish language teacher and other staff members.
6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
7. Patience and a passion for working with students of diverse backgrounds.
