The Organization:
The Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD) is a non-profit organization that works to promote, maintain, and enhance Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco as a world class destination. The organization is a 501(c)(3), which allows the organization to apply for federal, state and locally funded grants, as well as to seek out sponsorships from companies with a philanthropic division.
The FWCBD has served as a catalyst for unification of Fisherman's Wharf constituents to support a positive change to their San Francisco neighborhood through events and marketing initiatives, public realm projects, clean and safe programs, economic development, and advocacy.
Position Overview:
The FWCBD is seeking a dedicated and proactive on-site activation manager to oversee daily activities on the Fisherman’s Wharf Promenade, located between Pier 41 and Pier 45, and additional special events as necessary. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team of ambassadors, maintaining communication with stakeholders, hospitality, and reporting on incidents promptly and effectively.
Responsibilities:
Daily Operations Management:
  • Ideate, plan, and manage special activations and small-scale events
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of kiosk operators to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Monitor activation equipment (tables, chairs, lighting, signage, plants, etc…) and coordinate replacements as necessary.
  • Implement and maintain operational procedures to streamline processes and maximize productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
  • Work with marketing team to provide content for social media and website promotions.
  • Assist with special event operations as necessary.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation and customer service throughout the Promenade
  • Conduct regular inspections of the public realm to ensure adherence to operational standards.
  • Implement improvements based on stakeholder feedback and operational metrics.
Stakeholder Communication:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for kiosk operators, addressing any operational issues or concerns promptly.
  • Communicate with the surrounding businesses and act as the go-to contact for on-site management needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners and vendors.
  • Assist in the distribution of marketing materials promoting FWCBD activations and events to community stakeholders.
Reporting and Incident Resolution:
  • Monitor kiosk activities closely and report any incidents or technical issues promptly.
  • Compile incident reports and provide detailed analysis to management as required.
  • Work with management to create monthly reports based on incident reports, footfall traffic, digital marketing analytics, kiosk operator sales, and stakeholder feedback
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in operations management or a similar role, preferably in retail, events, or hospitality.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
