In addition to the requirements in our postings, we recognize that people come with talent and experiences outside of a job. Diversity of experience and skills combined with passion is a key to innovation and a culture of inclusion! Please apply – we’d love to hear from you. To quote TNC staff members, “you’ll join for our mission, and you’ll stay for our people.”
WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

TNC recognises Germany as a global leader on climate and biodiversity issues and we believe that strong effective partnerships with Germany on both policy, systems change, and conservation implementation are vital towards meeting the world’s climate, nature and sustainable development goals. Maintaining and building our partnerships within Germany are essential in the context of TNC’s priority goals, which include initiatives that help to: tackle climate change; support sustainable food systems; conserve precious habitats and ecosystems; deliver innovative approaches for financing nature and climate; empower Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities; and ultimately protect the lands and water upon which all life depends.
Our new Germany Partnerships and Policy Lead will drive the development and implementation of engagement strategies with priority public sector ministries and agencies in Germany (e.g. BMUV, BMZ, BMWK, AA, GIZ and others), in line with our Europe policy and institutional partnerships strategy and 2030 goals.
She/he/they will play an instrumental role leading the identification and cultivation of public partnership opportunities for TNC, supporting teams across TNC to access German public funding to deliver international climate mitigation and adaptation and nature conservation programmes. They will lead as liaison and informational contact in Europe between The Nature Conservancy and the bilateral and multilateral public sector entities at the German national, sub-national or local levels, as well as with industry and/or private groups for the purpose of supporting TNC’s policy and public funding goals.
Our Germany Partnerships and Policy Lead will play an instrumental role within a wider, dynamic team of professionals working together to deliver public funding outcomes needed for highly impactful, equitable conservation projects around the world that benefit people, nature and climate goals, including across Africa, Latin America, Asia Pacific and the Caribbean. They will sometimes support public partnership opportunities with other European countries, if and when necessary, such as Switzerland, The Netherlands or Nordics countries. They will typically have at least one direct report, supervising and coaching one of our Public Funding Managers (Germany, Nordics).
Our Germany Partnerships and Policy Lead will identify impactful and timely policy engagement opportunities, collaborating with policy leads within the wider team to build a strong network of relationships and position TNC as a trusted adviser to policymakers within Germany in support of our policy goals. S/he/they will work on transformative policies across a range of topics designed to help tackle climate change, protect nature and biodiversity, provide food and water sustainably, and deliver innovative, sustainable financing in support of these outcomes and TNC’s wider equitable conservation agenda globally. This will include engaging with the German government in international processes, such as the UNFCCC and UNCBD.
She/he/they will report to the Europe Director Global Policy and Institutional Partnerships. The location for this position is Berlin, Germany. No relocation or immigration assistance can be offered with this position.
