Aufgaben

As Head of Engineering for the area Explore & Discover, you will lead the development of a set of tools and products essential for the success of our platform, ensuring a seamless and effective experience for all users. More so - you are building and managing the organization to be successful. You are focusing on the Engineering Part and join forces with your corresponding Head of Product. This position reports to a Director of Product Engineering.

Your tasks – this is what awaits you in detail

• You are responsible for the success of one of our areas, overseeing 3-5 teams with approximately 30 engineers
• You are leading your engineers through a team of engineering managers or directly
• You shape the product and engineering vision for your area, aiming to create tools and products that resonate with our users, align with customer needs, and contribute to the success of our business
• You are setting up the right structure for the area to grow further
• You make sure your area is aligned with the company vision, mission and current objectives and key results
• You make sure that we leverage (new) technology within our product teams to build products customers love and work for the business
• You make sure we are continuously raising the engineering bar with experience and passion for software excellence
• You are responsible for keeping the right balance of time, budget and quality within the area
• You develop, monitor and own the relevant KPIs for the area (cost, SLAs, SLIs….)
• You contribute to our guidelines, policies, standards etc. to improve how we work

Profil

Your profile – this is what we expect from you

• You have built and shaped cross-functional product teams / organizations and bring a vast experience in engineering of scalable web applications and databases in modern environments
• You have profound knowledge of our full-stack tech stack which is Java Script & Type Script using Node.js for our backends for frontend (BFFs) - Vue.js / Vue 3 experience is a plus
• You are proficient in utilising monitoring (e.g. Datadog or similar) and profiling tools (e.g Chrome Dev Tools, Blackfire or similar)
• You are familiar with how a (distributed) search engine works – bonus points for experience with the Elasticstack
• You are a role model in communication, ownership, and execution
• You plan ahead and start working on making your organization ready for tomorrow - today
• You don’t shy away from making tough decisions having the bigger picture in mind
• You are willing to go the extra mile to make your team successful, you give honest feedback, and you are able to discuss, commit and execute
• You certainly embrace and drive change, you lead by example
