Electronics Engineer (m/f/d)

The Mission

Orora Tech is developing a constellation of nano- and micro-satellites with thermal infrared cameras for automated wildfire detection, severe weather warnings, and many other applications. After our FOREST-1 mission (launched in January 2022) and FOREST-2 (launched in June 2023), the next step is to scale the production and launch the first constellation plane of 8 systems. Additionally, another constellation of satellites based on our platform will be built for Greece, led by the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance and the Hellenic Space Center.
We are seeking talented engineers to support us with the development, design and testing of our satellite systems. They will be joining a very motivated and highly enthusiastic team of experts in the fields of mechanical, optics, electronics, spacecraft, and software engineering.

What you’ll be doing

As an Electronics Engineer you will:

Take lead responsibility for the electronics within individual projects, such as developing a new satellite subsystem, an experimental payload system, a new camera backend, or even an entire satellite, depending on your experience.
Design electronics hardware for upcoming satellite missions, ground support, and testing.
Be involved in all aspects of PCB design, from initial concept to schematic capture, mixed-signal PCB layout, production drawing generation, and manufacturing orders.
Perform hands-on inspections, debugging, and board bring-up of newly assembled PCBs.
Assist with the assembly, integration, and testing of flight hardware.
Ensure compliance with ECSS and IPC standards.
Participate in design reviews, from the system level down to individual circuits.
Establish and maintain contacts with manufacturing houses and testing facilities, particularly in Greece.

Relevant Skills

Practical experience (acquired at prior jobs, internships, university projects, etc.) in:
- Electronics design with Altium Designer or similar software.
- Programming and scripting: Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Python, C/C++, etc.
- Using lab equipment: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, hand soldering & reflow.
- Hands-on work (tell us about your side-projects!)
Well organized and communicative
- You are good in recognizing timeline, monetary or design related risks and communicate them early and effectively.
- You know how to reliably work with a task or ticketing project-management system like wrike.
- You find effective ways documenting your work and telling others about it using software like slack and confluence.
Basic Linux/Unix knowledge (SSH and shell usage)
Motivation to tackle a wide variety of challenges – looking beyond your job description.
Enthusiasm to learn about the New Space industry.
Fluent English skills (C1)
Fluent Greek skills (C1)
