Description

Reporting to the Credit Manager Asia, this is a great opportunity for a credit control / revenue management professional to play an integral role in the management of the firm’s debt and lock-up for three Asia offices (Hong Kong, Shanghai & Singapore). The successful candidate will have the strong ability to build trust and credibility with all the firm’s stakeholders, have a proven track record in managing and improving cash collections and will diligently complete all related credit control activities / administrative tasks.

Main Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Daily contact with clients through all (written and verbal) communication mediums to ensure that invoices / accounts are settled within terms of business / agreed timescales, ensuring all possible steps are taken to maximise ongoing cash collections whilst implementing escalation techniques / protocols when and where necessary.

Fluid and regular interaction with the Credit Manager and the fee earning team (Partner / Executive) to review debtor balances, agree and implement the most appropriate recovery strategy to collect current, aged and or difficult / problematic / contingent (deferred) debt.

Accountable for the recovery of certain debt portfolios (Department / Partner / Specific Client or Group of) as assigned by the Credit Manager, whilst also where appropriate, collegiately supporting the Manager in various areas (certain administrative tasks, absence coverage, reporting and analytics).

Monitor, maintain and enforce compliance of the firm's credit control policy and where appropriate other related finance policies.

Assist to maintain compliance of the Law Society requirements and awareness of regional restrictions / stipulations.

Maintain clear and informative notes on all recovery activities performed on the firm’s filing system and dedicated recovery management tool.

Effectively and proactively coordinate with stakeholders to resolve all queries or disputes raised in respect of accounts, matter financials, invoices, and payments.

Escalate problematic debts / situations through all levels of management as soon as they issue arise to minimise delay in settlement.

Produce and provide clear and concise (AR) reporting for multiple business areas / stakeholders (internal and external) application.

Support and escalate to the firms Credit Committee.

Upkeep of ongoing referrals and management of the contractual relationship with all the firms (worldwide) independent Debt Recovery Agencies.

Requirements & Attributes

A proactive, commercial self-initiator, results driven individual with sufficient Credit Control / Revenue Management experience, preferably gained within a professional services firm.

A proven track record of achieving ambitious cash collection targets, reducing DSO and monitoring exposure and risk.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Methodical approach with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English, whilst being proficient in Cantonese & Mandarin (language) is essential.

Professional manner, with a customer service mentality.

IT literate with an advanced knowledge of Excel. Familiarity with and previous working knowledge of Minisoft ARCS 3 Collections package and Elite Practice Management system beneficial (whilst not essential).

Creative, disciplined individual demonstrating the capacity for innovation by participating in and initiating process improvement, automation initiatives and workflow streamlining, in a fast-evolving finance function.

Ability to manage own workload, whilst working effectively and collaboratively with all areas of the business (locally and regional / all offices and the senior management of Harneys).
