JOB DESCRIPTION
The Linux Administrator plays a role in managing and maintaining Linux-based systems within an organization. They are responsible for ensuring t stability, security, and optimal performance of Linux servers and workstations. The Linux Administrator collaborates with the IT team to handle Linux-based infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support to users. This role requires a strong understanding of Linux operatin systems, networking, and scripting languages.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY
1. Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and related software.
2. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of Linux-based infrastructure.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement Linux-based solutions that meet business needs.
4. Implement and maintain security measures to protect Linux systems from unauthorized access and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
5. Automate system administrative tasks using scripting languages such as Bash or Python through Ansible to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
6. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure proper system security and data integrity.
7. Install, configure, and maintain network services, including DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
8. Evaluate and recommend hardware and software upgrades to improve system performance and scalability.
Must have skills
1. Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu, Cent OS, or Red Hat.
2. Proficient in Linux command-line interface (CLI) and shell scripting.
3. Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware.
4. Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and services, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VPN.
5. Knowledge of storage technologies, such as RAID, SAN, and NAS.
6. Understanding of security best practices and experience in implementing security measures on Linux systems.
7. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues. 8. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
9. Strong communication skills to effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
10. Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
