Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) is a combination of Mercer and Marsh local offices round the world, plus country correspondents who have been selected based on specific criteria. Our benefits professionals, located in 135 countries and servicing clients in more than 150 countries, are deeply knowledgeable about their local markets. Through our locally established businesses, we have a unique common platform which allows us to serve clients with global consistency and locally unique solutions.
We are currently seeking suitably experienced and qualified candidates to lead the MMB business for Indonesia. Reporting to the CEO, Marsh Mc Lennan Indonesia, with a dotted line to the MMB Leader, Asia (based in Shanghai), this role leads and is accountable for the sustainable growth and going innovation of this key business within the Asia region. As a member of the Marsh Indonesia and MMB Asia Leadership Team, this role is also critical in driving this business’ future growth and success.
The role requires a senior executive with strong, visible, and reputable leadership in the marketplace with the ability to win new business, along with the commercial acumen, knowledge and experience in the Employee Health & Benefit space in the region, a deep understanding of the sector and outstanding stakeholder management. The successful candidate will lead an overall team of approximately 40-50 staff, with significant revenue responsibility.
We will count on you to:
Strategic Planning: Develop the MMB Indonesia business vision and strategic goals and create plans to achieve them. This involves analyzing Indonesia market trends, identifying opportunities and risks, and setting priorities for MMB in line with overall business objectives and financial targets.
Growth: Drive growth from new business, diversification of market sectors and alternative revenue streams in Indonesia.
Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, such as internal and external clients, insurers, third party administrators and vendors.
Client Management: Manage and grow key customer relationships and oversee the quality of customer accounts and service delivery across the business.
Innovation and Change Management: Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the organization. This includes fostering creativity, encouraging new ideas, and managing change initiatives to adapt to evolving market conditions.
Operational Excellence: Contribute to the development and implementation of the business strategy through strong leadership and operational effectiveness. Make critical decisions that impact the MMB’s direction, operations, and financial performance. This includes evaluating options, considering the potential outcomes, and determining the best course of action though efficiencies, innovation, and technology. Ensure all facets of operations meet bottom line & profit targets, quality standards and customer expectations.
Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing team. This involves hiring and training employees, delegating tasks, providing feedback and guidance, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Performance Monitoring: Track and evaluate the organization's performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets. This includes reviewing operational metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them. This involves conducting risk assessments, developing contingency plans, and ensuring compliance with Indonesian legal and regulatory requirements.
External Representation: Act as the public face of the MMB Indonesia and represent its interests to external stakeholders. This includes participating in industry events, public speaking engagements, and engaging with the media.

What you need to have:
- More than 10 years progressive experience in employee benefits broking with a record of driving growth and retention directly with clients, especially at the executive level - “Be the face of the brand”.
- Deep experience, knowledge and understanding of the Indonesia local market landscape and client behaviors, with existing senior stakeholders, (including) external clients, insurers, and third-party administrator relationships.
- Influencing and persuading skills with the ability to drive activities and growth across various areas of the organization.
- Proven strategic planning skills, business acumen, and a bias for action and results.
- Track record in delivering growth results consistently year on year and developing growth opportunities end to end to generate revenue for the organization.
- Dedication to quality in all aspects of your work performance and client services, with a passion for excellence.
- Intellectual depth to translate concepts into reality and is a catalyst of ideas and change both internally and externally.
- People management and leadership skills. Record of achievement in building teams to drive continued growth and success. Deep understanding and awareness of the Indonesia talent market, with an existing external profile in the employee benefits space.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. A team player who naturally maintains solid working relationships with colleagues and other relevant stakeholders
- Outstanding communication style. Able to effectively associate with various audiences, adapting your approach as appropriate. Sound listening and comprehension skills a must.
- Commitment to professionalism and providing high-level client service to exceed client expectations.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage a fast-paced workload.
