The Role:
The Asset Management and Sustainability area is responsible for the development of asset policies, strategies and plans to determine the significant investment required into Ireland’s infrastructure. The area drives investment and the Sustainability and Innovation agenda for the organisation and leads on Environmental Regulation and Compliance activities, ensuring the quality of water and wastewater is continuously monitored. The Asset Management function is responsible for strategic planning, prioritisation, and development of Uisce Éireann’s Capital Works pipeline. The function plays a key role in promoting collaboration and co-ordination of activities across the three asset functions as well as providing environmental assessment and management expertise across Uisce Éireann
The Asset Planning team is accountable for the timely delivery of essential, value for money water services Infrastructure for Ireland. The scope of the team's responsibility covers 5 main areas: Housing Growing, Capex Pipeline, Risk Maintenance and Safety, Critical Assets and Leakage.
Reporting to the Asset Planning Lead Engineer, the Asset Planning Engineer plays a key role in promoting collaboration and co-ordination of asset planning activities across the asset functions. This includes the roll-out of asset standards and policies and the use of common tools and shared data. The Asset Planning Engineer will support the Asset Planning Lead Engineer’s in relation to the identification, approval and prioritisation of investment needs within the regions. The role holder will also work closely with Local Authorities and third parties to deliver on services for Uisce Éireann customers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Lead Engineers at formal workshops in a project’s lifecycle.
- Support the Lead Engineers development of processes for collecting and analysing asset data to manage service risk.
- Analyse and interpret data and information from various sources required to input into service risk assessments.
- Support the Asset Planning team to evaluate technical service risk assessments of assets to inform future investment needs.
- Support the Asset Planning team to evaluate treatment and network system capacity to facilitate growth.
- Support Lead Engineers at meetings as required across the region and prepare information to support decisions
- Provide input into progress reports and updates for Asset Planning.
- Collaborate on key data improvement initiatives for critical information on all proposed projects.
- Ensure appropriate information is adequately collated and managed data is to facilitate prioritisation of projects.
- Support development of Asset Standards, Policies and Specifications.
- Provide engineering support to the Asset Planning team as required, and Perform other such duties in relation to work and asset management as Uisce Éireann may reasonably require.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ busines
- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
- Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives. Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrable experience of portfolio delivery, with particular experience in the area of portfolio planning.
- Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable
- A minimum of 3 years’ Experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience
- Experience managing a team, with strong people, change management and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally
- Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate information to others
- Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results within a team.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
- Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job

Please note the Market reference point (midpoint) of the range is generally the upper end of the offer where someone is deemed to be fully competent to take on the duties of the role, and leaves room for the employee to progress through the pay range as their experience develops further
