Description
What are the minimum requirements you need for the role?
  • Bachelor degree in software engineering or relevant field.
  • Basic knowledge of Web API and general SOA techniques.
  • Basic knowledge in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (Vue.js, Angular, React…).
  • Basic level of skill in the following:
    • Microsoft C# programming language
    • .NET Core
    • Modern application architecture/design

Who are we looking for?We are currently recruiting for an entry level Software Engineer to join our one of our Engineering teams in technology. This role will be based out of our Dublin office supporting the global engineering team in delivering key initiatives for the business and its clients.

What is your role and your responsibilities?
  • Stay on top of technology trends and developments.
  • Write code and tests to develop best-in-class solutions adhering to regulatory and security standards / best practice.
  • Work with relevant members of the Squad and other functional specialists to deliver prioritised solutions and achieve company specific career aspirations.
  • Document work and ensure that knowledge is shared within the Squad to enable business continuity and sustainability.
  • Contribute to addressing environment issues by adopting a “Green Software Engineering” mindset to define, develop and run sustainable software products.
  • Work with Product Owners and allocated Business Analysts to:
  • Provide input into and feedback on the backlog for each area of specialist focus in a way that ensures prioritised work items are ‘engineered’ efficiently.
  • Work with Agile Delivery Managers to:
  • Provide input into Sprint goals such that they are defined and aligned with the ‘plan of record.’
  • Engage in relevant Sprint ceremonies and tracking of velocity/cycle time metrics that are used to mitigate risks and drive continuous improvement.
  • Notify the team of impediments before they have a material impact on delivery performance.
  • Contribute to the team-wide use of metrics (e.g., velocity, cycle time, and DORA or equivalent) to optimise team performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with teams within and outside of Technology to help execute on important strategic initiatives.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to the development methodology of choice such as agile, scrum, waterfall.
  • Uphold Carne’s key cultural and operating principles.
  • Adopt a ‘product growth’ engineering mindset, brainstorm new ideas, be highly data-driven, use experimentation with metrics to improve conversions and a product's core values (i.e., drive the build, measure, continue or kill cycle).
  • Inform Principal Engineer(s) of technical debt and approaches to, and consequences of, sunsetting of deprecated features.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required.
