To qualify for a CE Scheme you must be aged between 21-55 and be unemployed for 12 months AND you must also be getting any combination of the following payments for at least 12 months:
- Jobseeker's Benefit (JB)
- Jobseeker's Allowance (JA)
- Jobseeker's Transitional payment (JST)
- One-Parent Family Payment (OFP)
- Deserted Wife’s Benefit
- Widow's, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's Contributory Pension
- Widow's, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's Non-Contributory Pension, or
- Farm Assist
- Getting Disability Allowance, Blind Pensionor Invalidity Pension, or
- Getting Illness Benefitfor at least 6 months, or
- A member of the Traveller community, unemployed and getting Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance for any length of time or One-Parent Family Payment for at least 1 year, or
- A person with refugee statusand getting any DSP payment for any length of time, or
- Referred following an appropriate assessment according to the National Drugs Rehabilitation Framework protocols, an ex-offender who has been referred by the Probation Service or other designated service, or an ex-offender not referred by a designated service who has been getting JA or JB for 12 months, or
- Living on one of the offshore islands and currently getting a CE-qualifying payment for 6 months or more
The position is for an Information Provider based in Citizens Information Centre, Tuam.
Responsible to:
The Development Manager on a day-to-day basis.
Purpose of the job
To provide information, advice and advocacy services to the public and assist the team in the work ofthe information service.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Provide information, advice and advocacy services to the public.
- Deliver outreach services in the CIS area.
- Complete follow-up work arising from information sessions with clients.
- Identify and refer advocacy to the IO within the service.
- Eventually, undertake short- and longer-term advocacy (if agreed with the Development Manager).
- Input information into CIS data collection systems.
- Record Social Policy.
- Undertake relevant training (minimum compulsory and continuous development training).
- Operate the query management system.
- Represent the CIS at conferences, etc., as decided by the Development Manager.
- Participate in quality reviews.
- Attend regular team meetings.
- Support staff in the interview rooms.
- Support volunteer staff.
- Support reception staff.
- Support placement/work experience workers if asked to do so by Development Manager.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Development Manager.
· An understanding of the issues around the provision of, and access to information, advice and advocacy services.
· Understanding of how the social welfare, health and income tax systems operate in general.
· Excellent organisational, administrative and IT skills.
· Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing
· Previous experience in the information or voluntary sector would be well received.
· Ability to interpret and implement organisational policy.
· Ability to work on own initiatives and as a member of a team, working effectively within the support and supervision structures operated by the CIS.
· Ability to conduct research across a wide variety of information sources.
Other requirements: Garda vetting is required for this position.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From €259.50 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
