A small, homely nursing home with 26 beds in Glasnevin with all female residents seeks Healthcare Assistants for FULL TIME permanent positions. Previous experience is desirable but comprehensive orientation and professional support will be given. License or certification:
Hold a FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support including the Care of the Older Person module or a commitment to complete same.
Salary: €27,000 per annum +

General Duties and Main Purpose of the work:
·· Maximise the independence of the resident.
· Provide support to the resident to achieve the highest possible quality of Life
· Afford every opportunity to the resident to live and die with dignity.
· Assist in delivering a high standard of holistic care to residents, promoting their equality and dignity at all times
· Carry out assigned and delegated tasks involving direct care and all activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager e.g. washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, dining and all other aspects of daily living
· Contribute to a range of social, recreational and educational activities aimed at providing a stimulating environment for the residents
· Act as the key worker for specific residents.
· Maximise the emotional and physical comfort of residents.
· Provide particular attention to residents who have limited mobility
· Participate in care delivery as outlined in the residents care plan, reporting any changes observed in a resident’s physical or mental state.
· Residents with limited or restricted mobility must be assisted with the utmost care paying particular attention to resident moving and handling policies
· Contribute to maintaining a safe environment for the residents, staff and visitors. Immediately report and record any incident or potential incident which may compromise the health and safety of residents or visitors.
· Engage in the serving of resident meals with an awareness of their dietary needs and assistance required.
· Ensure all resident’s living areas and bedrooms are left neat and presentable for residents and visitors.
· Accompany residents if required when external travel is necessary.
· Comply with all policies and procedures published by Marian House.
· Undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Nursing.
· Checks and reports faulty equipment.
· Communicate with all residents and their relatives/representatives. Ensure that all are made feel welcome and offered refreshments
· Be aware of the confidential nature of the work and in particular, the right of residents to confidentiality. To this end you will not discuss workings of Marian House or its residents with people outside of Marian House.
