Job Summary
Due to the dynamic nature of ICT, the opportunities presented by shared services, cloud technology paradigms and changing business requirements within Kerry County Council, all positions demand a flexibility to work in various service areas as needs change.
The Duties and Responsibilities as set out in this booklet reflect the immediate and foreseeable needs, but as these needs or the working environment changes, employees will have to acquire up-to-date skills for new roles. Kerry County Council supports employees in meeting short-term and long-term training objectives through our PMDS processes.
The ideal candidate would present with the skillset listed, experience in a similar role in an equally challenging and diverse environment, with a proven desire to maintain and develop their skills, backed up with qualifications.
The IS\Analyst Developer position include technical roles in one of the following areas – end user device management, networks, server & storage, business systems, software development, information security and IT service desk. The IS\Analyst Developer is a senior, technical post and the successful candidate will report to and work closely with their line manager. From a technical competency perspective recent, demonstrable, hands-on technical experience is a key requirement
Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms have;
- a qualification at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major award (i.e. honours degree) or higher in a relevant computing discipline and at least 3 years’ directly relevant, recent ICT hands-on experience from their employment to date
- a qualification at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major award (i.e. honours degree) or higher, with computing taken in the final year and at least 4 years’ directly relevant, recent ICT hands-on experience from their employment to date
- a Level 7 NFQ major award qualification in a relevant computing discipline, and at least 4 years’ directly relevant ICT hands-on experience from their employment to date
- a Level 6 NFQ major award qualification in a relevant computing discipline and at least 5 years’ directly relevant, ICT hands-on experience from their employment to date
and
- have a satisfactory knowledge of public service organisation or the ability to acquire such knowledge
Relevant ICT hands-on experience should include, but is not limited to areas such as managing delivery of digital solutions, enterprise architecture, software and applications development projects involving a range of technologies and platforms covering web development, data management, database administration, business analysis/discovery, business intelligence and data analytics, Dev Ops, enterprise architecture, technical infrastructure service design and delivery, server and client operating systems and architecture stacks, telecommunications and networking infrastructure delivery support, technical support, ICT service management, operations and server support, ICT/cyber security, mobile device management, virtualisation delivery support, dates and application support, cloud computing, etc.
