Our presence in Bologna, Italy

Since 1963, Philip Morris has operated in Bologna at the manufacturing plant of Zola Predosa. Thanks to the experience and competence developed over the years, the company expanded in the Emilia-Romagna region, opening a new manufacturing plant in the industrial area of Crespellano in 2016. The result of an investment of more than 1 billion euro, Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna is our center of excellence for staff training, prototyping and large-scale production of smoke-free tobacco products.

Your ‘day to day’:

As an Intern you will join Global Technical Operations as part of our Engineering Solutions team in Crespellano, and work in close collaboration with other Operations Central functions and our RRP (Reduced Risk Products) factories in Philip Morris International. This team will be acting as the driver for any tobacco processing and consumable manufacturing equipment. You'll be working together with a mix of talents in engineering, science, technology, QA and Planning.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Be an active member of the team, join regular progress review meetings and present findings and results;
• Support the team in analyzing data, generate insights, draw conclusions and make recommendations;
• Apply engineering methodologies and tools to identify opportunities to improve process performance;
• Write regular reports on root cause analysis and how it can help to improve processes;
• Manage a small project autonomously from process mapping to final report;
• Contribute to overall projects managed by our Manufacturing Engineering department.

Who we’re looking for:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Computer Science) or similar;
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Italian is essential, and will be tested during the interview process;
• Strong analytical and quantitative mindset with a demonstrated ability to interpret and leverage data to gain insights;
• Good interpersonal skills, to engage quickly in cross-functional and external environment;
• Ability to explain complex research in easy language;
• Ability to understand complex process and explain in simple words;
• Self-starter with ability to quickly ramp up on new tools and technologies;
• Interested in developing/designing with suppliers equipment modules / test equipment;
• Previous knowledge/experience in process engineering would be a plus;
• Ability to travel in Europe.

Type of contract: Internship of 6 months length

Work location: Crespellano, Italy

Candidates wishing to apply from outside of Italy should be in possession of the local VISA ("Permesso di Soggiorno") valid for the entire duration of the internship
