Out-Patient Messenger

Purpose and Scope of the Job:
Under direct supervision of pharmacists, pharmacy messenger is responsible for safe medication distribution and handling all over the hospital.
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards:
Education: At least High School Certificate
Experience: One-year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Language: Preferred Proficiency in Arabic and English Languages.
Computer Proficiency: Good computer skills
Performance Competencies:
Under direct supervision of pharmacists, pharmacy messenger is responsible for safe medication distribution and handling all over the hospital.
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards:
- Greet and welcome patients, ensuring they took the Queue no.; while waiting for their turn.
- Distributes medication to all clinical areas as per the workflow assigned in the outpatient medication.
- Answers calls coming for the unit during busy times and ensure transfer right information for pharmacists. Messengers are not allowed to provide any information when they receive calls.
- Delivers and receives medications from main pharmacy store and outpatient pharmacy.
- Responsible for expiry date checks as assigned by pharmacist on duty for all items that they receive and arrange.
- Responsible for unit organization and cleanliness and overlooks housekeepers when cleaning shelves in the inpatient medication management unit.
- Delivers or receives documents related to the unit activities as assigned by pharmacists.
- Scans & photocopies documents when needed.
- Ensures safety standards (occupational and patient safety) are compiled.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Direct Reporting Authority.
- Ensures quality and patient safety practices are followed
- Provides or promotes people centered care
- Promotes inclusive health by providing equitable and accessible care to patients and families with special needs
Education: At least High School Certificate
