Job Description
A Grade Quarry Manager – Gore
Our people are the most important part of our business. That's why we offer opportunities to challenge yourself, learn and grow within a culture that values your opinion and works hard to keep you passionate about making a difference. You'll get the chance to work with and learn from the very best people in the industry.

We live and breathe our REAL values - Respect, Energy & Effort, Attitude, Leadership - and we demonstrate these values through the work we do, every day, as one team.
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated A Grade Quarry Manager to join our team in Gore. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient production while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee operations in our alluvial and hard rock quarries and Mobile Crushing operations.
  • Manage a small team effectively
  • You will be responsible for safely managing the extraction and production activities, restoration work, recruiting and training staff, and troubleshooting and technical problems.
  • You will be responsible for caring for and maintaining the operation’s key assets, including loaders, excavators, Fixed and mobile processing plants
  • Ensure compliance with consent conditions and maintain quality controls.
  • Monitor and enhance production processes to meet targets.
  • Building relationships with the team, customers, residents, and local contractors, as well as roading and civil engineering companies, and understanding their business needs and ours.
  • Monitor and optimise the use of new equipment to achieve production targets and quality standards.
  • Input to budgets, manage resources and schedules to meet operational goals.
Qualifications, Attitude and Skills:
  • Have a character containing authenticity, integrity, honesty and reliability. A proactive, can-do attitude – a glass half-full attitude to life.
  • Hold an A Grade Co C
  • Attention to detail and be an effective communicator with strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Class 4 with W, T, R
  • At least 2 years of experience within a similar environment
  • Exceptional attitude, willing to help others, and go that extra mile
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Take care and pride in your work and presentation of the workplace.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team. We are looking for a leader, not a manager.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills.
While certain skills are prerequisites, like having an A-Grade Co C, the successful applicant will have a champion attitude toward improvement and a collaborative working style to get it done. If you are a proactive individual with a passion for quarry management and possess the necessary qualifications and experience, we encourage you to apply.
To ensure our employees are well looked after, we offer a suite of benefits such as:
  • Medical insurance for you and your whānau.
  • Life insurance from day one.
  • Kiwi Saver employer contributions after service milestones up to 7%.
  • Fuel discount card.
  • Parental leave top-up payment with additional return to work support.
  • Family scholarships.
  • Ongoing training and development, career growth and progression opportunities.
  • Great discounts at a wide range of retailers.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • A role within a business that invests in its people, safety and equipment.
  • Supportive and inclusive work environment.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • The chance to be part of an innovative and growing operation.
Creating, Connecting and caring for the community
Our people regularly donate their time to local causes and initiatives, while at a regional and national level we provide financial support, skills and resources to a wide range of organisations that are strengthening our communities. Our focus aims to also reduce our impact on the environment, and regenerate healthy new ecosystems. We look to partner with others to lift the standards of our industry and show customers lower-impact, sustainable ways of delivering infrastructure.
Do not delay! Apply now.
Applications close 5pm October 15 2024. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and interviews may take place prior to the close date.
