We’re leading the way in creating a new energy future through our Symphony strategy, which puts customers at the heart of the energy system.
We’ve formed strategic global alliances to develop digital platforms to assist with the energy transition to electrification.
At its core, our over-arching business strategy is about creating an energy future for our customers that is future-built – delivering safer, cleaner, more reliable and affordable energy solutions. Our focus is on being proactive, through leading and creating, rather than waiting for the future to arrive.

Graduate engineer
Your role will be using engineering, economics and customer focus to support building the future roadmap of our electricity grid, transitioning from traditional management of energy to using digital tools and data.
You will join the team that works on modernising our electricity network with a focus on:
- Delivering our strategic objective (Symphony Strategy) to build an efficient, affordable and reliant network through demand side management, distributed energy resource integration and network visibility (through smart meter data)
- Using advanced digital platforms, developed in collaboration with global partners, to enhance traditional asset management
- Utilising new network planning tools to manage uncertainty and complexity
- Enabling customers’ technology choices for decarbonising their energy consumption by integrating with the electricity network to an affordable transition.
- Your field of study will be electrical engineering with exposure to digital engineering, economics, data science, customer insights and/or Gen AI
- You’re an inquisitive energy enthusiast with strong communication skills, and a confident change-maker who doesn’t shy away from challenges
- You’re someone who enjoys solving complex problems, thinking differently and finding solutions that don’t yet exist
- You’ll have basic knowledge of scenario planning and modelling
Whether it’s the opportunity to work on challenges on a truly global scale in collaboration with leading technology firms, or to build a legacy for Auckland and New Zealand through your work; or perhaps to work in an innovative and transformative sector, or our commitment to supporting your development, there’s a myriad of reasons to choose a career with Vector.
