Mō mātou - Our Organisation
At Kāinga Ora, ours is the important responsibility of transforming New Zealand's housing choices, outcomes, and the entire housing sector by creating homes and communities that allow New Zealanders to thrive.
What is exciting about working for Kāinga Ora is getting the chance to make a real and positive impact on New Zealanders' lives. With skills, planning and purposeful action, our people are creating the homes and neighbourhoods that will build the future of Aotearoa.
We are passionate about transforming New Zealand for the better. That includes being a trusted partner for Māori and iwi, protecting and enabling their rights, interests, and aspirations under the guidance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role
Te Mātāwai is the creation of a 276-unit apartment complex in central Auckland, delivered under a 'single-site supported housing' model. The new development includes both retail/commercial and office spaces alongside shared amenities, designed to create a welcoming, supportive, and connected community within an environment that promotes greater health and wellbeing outcomes.
'Single site supported housing' is the coordination of public housing coupled with support services to meet customers' social and health needs and increase wellbeing. Te Mātāwai is one of the first demonstrations of single site supported housing in Aotearoa New Zealand with 24/7 on-site support and Hapori Kaitiaki services.

Hapori Kaitiaki - Community Guardian
The Hapori Kaitiaki will be the first point of contact for customers and tenants at 139 Greys Avenue, their visitors, and the community. You will be responsible for ensuring they all receive the appropriate care, information and support required within a welcoming, healthy environment.
This role provides the opportunity to make a real difference in our customers' lives, as you build trust, develop strong and lasting relationships, support housing and wellbeing needs and help to create a thriving, connected community at 139 Greys Avenue.
A key part of the role is engaging effectively and connecting with the inter-disciplinary groups working within the 139 Greys Avenue complex, the on-site Lead Support Provider, wider Kāinga Ora groups and external stakeholders. Single-Site Supported Housing is an innovative approach for Kāinga Ora, and cross-team collaboration is important for its success.
The Hapori Kaitiaki team will create a welcoming and safe place for all our customers and tenants to live in their homes, with the greatest degree of independence possible.
