Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are looking for energetic and empathetic Healthcare assistants to work within Thames Hospital’s Emergency Department.

This role includes working under the direction and supervision of the registered nursing team.

The successful applicants will ideally have experience in Healthcare although we are willing to train the right person. There are full or part time positions available, and the successful candidates must be available to work rostered and rotating 8 hours shifts 24/7 across all seven days of the week.

Key responsibilities of the role:

Performing routine activities of daily living for patients under the delegation and direction of a registered nurse.

Thames is a modernised 50 bed secondary hospital, 100 kilometres north of Hamilton. We have a 24 hour emergency department, inpatient unit, ambulatory surgery, outpatient clinics and rehabilitation services. The hospital also provides laboratory and radiology services, including CT.

It is classified as a rural hospital and is located at the foot of the beautiful Coromandel peninsula, with specialty services provided by our tertiary hospital Waikato. We serve the Thames, Coromandel Peninsula and Paeroa areas.

We pride ourselves on the provision of quality and patient focussed care and work in a true inter-disciplinary way with clinical and allied health team members. The hospital is an integral part of the community.

Mōu | About you

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Previous healthcare experience, preferably in a hospital setting, although we are willing to train the right person

  • A current NZ work permit

  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action

  • Demonstrated ability for confidentiality

  • Preference will be given to those who have achieved health related NZQA standards.
