About the Team:

The People & Partnerships Team strive to create a performance focused, engaged culture that puts safety and wellbeing first while championing our values, vision, and strategy. They play a critical role in supporting the business to achieve its purpose, vision, and strategic objectives, while providing a high-quality internal service that is impactful, proactive, and innovative.


The People Team lead programmes and initiatives across organisational development, strategic workforce planning, performance management, employment relations, talent acquisition and management, remuneration and benefits, learning and development, customer & stakeholder management, and sustainability.
About the Role:
We have an opportunity for a Human Resources Coordinator to join us at our Christchurch based office (Burnside) on a full-time permanent basis.


Reporting to our Manager HR Business Partnering & Employment Relations, this role provides generalist HR support and advice to the People Team and wider Airways.


This varied role will see you assist with (but not limited to):
  • HR support:
    • Coordinating and administering of all queries received via People Helpdesk.
    • Producing documentation for all stages of the employee lifecycle from employment to cessation.
    • Maintaining records for people related data and documents through timely filing and processing.
    • Monitoring and tracking compliance for audit purposes.
    • Assisting with producing and distributing regular team activity reporting.
    • Maintaining HR documentation templates and supporting updates to templates to align with current legislation as directed.
  • Recruitment support:
    • Updating position descriptions, arranging interviews, arranging and documenting pre-employment checks.
    • Onboarding of new employees.
  • OD/Learning support:
    • Setting up, coordinating, and administering of courses, workshops, or events.
    • Assisting with the setup of learning courses through the Learning Management system (LMS).

The HR team is comprised of:

  • Manager HR Business Partnering & Employment Relations
  • HR Business Partner x 3
  • HR Advisor
  • Employment Relations Lead.

About You:

Due to the varied nature of the role, you will be someone who thrives in an environment where no day is the same, able to work at pace and use your natural ability to switch between and prioritise competing tasks.


In addition to the above, you will:

  • Ideally hold a tertiary qualification in human resources, psychology, or a business discipline or equivalent to that, relevant recruitment or HR coordination experience.
  • Be a natural problem solver, proactive and delivery focused with high attention to detail.
  • Be tech savvy including be competent in the MS Office Suite, with the ability to interpret and handle confidential data.
  • Hold a proven track record of developing excellent relationships with a diverse range of internal stakeholders.
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and consultatively to achieve end goals.
  • Hold a genuine interest working side by side with colleagues (within HR, the wider People Team and across the business).

Beneficial:

  • Previous generalist HR administration experience (1-2 years) gained in an organisation of a similar size and complexity to Airways (800+ employees, numerous locations, and SOE).
  • Some working knowledge of the employment legislation affecting HR functions and EEO.
