Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | Tulaga o le galuega | About the role
The Kaiwhakahaere provides a BCITO presence, guidance and industry connections to organisations wanting to engage with BCITO's Workstart concept. Initially established in the Waikato region, BCITO in partnership with Whatukura, are now expanding their Te Waharoa Workstart Programme into Tamaki Makaurau region.
Whatukura, an MSD-funded PTE, is dedicated to facilitating the entry of Māori into the workforce and apprenticeships. The Te Waharoa programme targets young Māori learners, offering them a comprehensive six-week pre-trade course, designed to prepare them for employment opportunities and apprenticeships.
This opportunity is offered on a 12-month fixed term for an Auckland-based person, who is knowledgeable about local Iwi, hapu, and whānau networks. They will play a crucial role in identifying and engaging with community members seeking pathways to employment and apprenticeships. In addition, familiarity with Māori business owners in the Auckland region is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing relationships with these business owners, fostering partnerships that facilitate the employment and mentorship of Māori learners.
This role presents a unique opportunity for the right person to contribute to the expansion of Te Waharoa's mission, while leveraging their local expertise to make a meaningful impact in the Tamaki Makaurau community.
