Mō te Pakihi | About us
Manaaki Whenua is New Zealand's Crown Research Institute (CRI) for our land and environment. We are responsible for supporting New Zealand to develop a sustainable relationship with our land, through the delivery of exceptional science across a wide range of disciplines.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
These internships provide opportunities for tauira Māori to experience working in a corporate environment in a specialised area of science aligned with their study and interests.
The internships being offered are:

Kirikiriroa | Hamilton - Piirairaka dispersal
Mangōnui | Lincoln, Canterbury - Forest health
Mangōnui | Lincoln, Canterbury - Seed banks of cyclone-damaged lowland forest
Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland - enhance value to iwi of the taonga that is Te Kohinga Hekaheka o Aotearoa NZ Fungarium
Te Papaioea | Palmerston North - Thermal tolerance of indigenous plants

The internships are for 25 hours per week and will begin in November and end early in February, with a two-week shut down over the Christmas period including 3 additional paid leave days between Christmas and New Year.
The 'living wage' of $27.80 per hour gross is paid.

These internships are suitable for tauira Māori in tertiary education who are looking to grow their skills and career pathways in Māori informed and mātauranga Māori-led research.

Each intern is mentored and will work alongside experienced Manaaki Whenua scientists or researchers.
