Nursing Lecturer & Mental Health Academic Liaison

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time position teaching in the undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing programme at the Taradale campus for a Registered Nurse with a current Practicing Certificate and a passion for mental health.
The successful applicant will teach specific subjects in the Bachelor of Nursing facilitating the learning process through a wide variety of planned learning experiences. They will participate in ongoing curriculum development and the development of course materials and will also contribute to the ongoing development of teaching and learning in the online platform with the opportunity to seek out professional development opportunities. Supporting students in a mental health context will be a requirement of the role, as well as, working with key stake holders to strengthen learning opportunities for students whilst on clinical placement.
A Masters of Nursing or equivalent is desirable but applicants who are working towards a Masters Degree will be considered.
The Nursing Lecturer & Mental Health Academic Liaison is based in our EIT | Te Pūkenga Hawkes Bay Campus and will be responsible for:
  • Ākonga / Student Learning - teach specific subjects in the Undergraduate Nursing
  • Teamwork - the successful applicant will work in a small team who works closely with the larger team in Hawke's Bay and Tairāwhiti.
  • Contribute to ongoing development of teaching and learning in the online platform
  • Seek out professional development opportunities to keep abreast of online teaching and
  • Participate in the ongoing curriculum development for the Undergraduate Nursing and Health Science Programmes as appropriate
  • Participate in the promotion and marketing of the undergraduate nursing programmes at EIT Te Pūkenga.

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Wide range and up-to-date nursing practice experiences in mental health
  • Passion for mental health and sharing of clinical experiences
  • Tertiary teaching experience in nursing, preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of the Nursing Council of New Zealand Competency requirements for the Registered Nurse Scope of Practice
  • An understanding of Kawa Whakaruruhau and current approaches to cultural safety in the delivery of learning
  • High degree of professional judgement and integrity.
  • Friendly and approachable manner.
  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and holds a current annual practicing certificate
