About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

This is a key role where you'll be working with a transdisciplinary team around a student, including educators, parents, caregivers and whānau, helping them meet their educational goals through guidance and intervention plans.

You'll need to be highly motivated, committed to, and experienced in providing services and therapies for children and young people with complex additional learning support needs.

The role involves:

  • Providing support and guidance to schools, teachers, and families to improve outcomes for children with additional learning needs.
  • Identify, set up and provide advice about the environmental changes, support, equipment and technology a child or young person may need.
  • Assessing, collaboratively planning, supporting, and monitoring the implementation of plans.
  • Facilitating access to wider services and support, in response to individual need, for example speech and language therapy and local agencies.
  • Effective interventions as part of a transdisciplinary team.
  • Travel across our south/southwest region.

Salary range: $69,996 - $118,450 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

If you are an Occupational Therapist (OT) practitioner and ready for new challenges this could be your next career step. We can offer a friendly and supportive workplace environment, for an enthusiastic, versatile, and highly motivated OT.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification.
  • You must be registered as an Occupational Therapist under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act to apply for this position.
  • A current full driver's licence as travel is a requirement of this role.
  • You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.
  • You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally, and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau. To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.
