We have a rewarding opportunity for a Pou Manaaki to support and empower Tangata Whaiora to overcome barriers to wellbeing. This includes actively working with individuals and their whānau to achieve identified goals, and supporting their needs using the principles of Kaupapa Māori, strength-based recovery and community resources. This position is part of our Ngā Ngaru o Tai Timu Tai Pari – Kaupapa Māori Primary Mental Health and Addictions Services (Tuakana Stream) for Te Tai Tokerau. Based on a Kaupapa Māori paradigm, this service addresses the needs of Tangata Whaiora who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health and/or addiction issues, and engaging with their whānau.
The Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in Māori Health or Mātauranga Māori, be proficient in Te Reo me ona Tikanga (eg Karakia, Mihimihi, Karanga, Powhiri), with knowledge and experience of social issues for Māori in the Tai Tokerau Region. Knowledge and experience of issues for Māori effected by mental health and addiction issues would be an advantage. Your strong interpersonal and relationship building skills will allow you to engage with kaimahi, individuals and whānau, and foster effective partnerships and relationships with relevant networks, agencies and support services. Pou Manaaki Position Description
POU RONGOĀ HEALERS
Ko te reo karanga tenei a Taumata Rongoā o Hauora Hokianga ki te kahui e matau ana ki te mahi whakaora tangata maa te mauri o te ao Rongoa, hei korowai oranga mo te iwi e noho kainga ana i Hokianga nui tonu.
We are looking for experienced Pou Rongoā trained in traditional cultural healing to join our Kahui Pou Rongoā on a part-time basis of 7 hours per fortnight. This important turanga is responsible for facilitating, co-ordinating and administering safe and appropriate Mirimiri and Rongoā practices for Whānau utilising our Taumata Rongoā healing services, cultural tikanga traditional services and movement.
Key to the turanga will be encouraging pathways of health and well-being through various cultural modalities such as whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, whitiwhiti korero, mirimiri, karakia, tikanga, reo, wairuatanga, kete rongoā, taiao and cultural pastoral care.
The ideal Pou Rongoā will have a Level 3 or higher qualification in Tikanga (Rongoā) and evidence of at least 3 years consistent practice in Mirimiri or other Rongoā modalities. You will be kind, caring and patient and have the ability to build strong connections to empower, motivate, educate and encourage Whānau to build upon their strengths and achieve their health and wellbeing aspirations. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Hokianga tikanga and issues affecting Hokianga communities, whānau, marae and hapu would be ideal. A full drivers licence is required. Position Description Pou Rongoa
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES WORKER
We have a part-time opportunity available for a meticulous, reliable and motivated team player to join our dedicated Environmental Services team. As a collaborative member of the team, you will primarily be responsible for ensuring that the highest standard of cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene is maintained for patients, residents, staff and visitors at all times across our facilities. Applicants will need to be available to work shifts across a 7 day per week rotating roster.
You will be able to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, a willingness to follow directions, and be able to work effectively as part of a team and independently. You will have good communication skills, be highly organised and have a pleasant disposition. Previous cleaning experience within the health sector or a commercial environment along with a working knowledge of cleaning products, techniques and equipment is an advantage but not essential. Position Description Environmental Services Worker
FIRST COOK
We are looking for a First Cook to run our busy hospital kitchen. You will be responsible for the smooth running of the kitchen including serving high-quality meals that meet patient dietary needs, catering for functions, ensuring supplies are well stocked, and a high standard of cleanliness is maintained. You’ll need to be hands on, with the ability to lead the day to day operations of the kitchen including coordinating the kitchen roster, working to a set menu, and supervising the second cook and relief kitchen staff. Previous commercial cooking experience is essential along with relevant qualifications in dietary and hygiene areas.
This is a full time position working 5 days per week which may include weekends and public holidays to fill the roster. Hours of work are from 9:30am to 6:00pm for 4 days, with 1 administration day working 8:00am to 4:30pm.

NURSING OPPORTUNITIES
Registered Nurse: support a diverse range of patients across accident and emergency, acute inpatient, and hospital level residential care across a 24/7 shift roster.
Community Health Nurse: undertake a wide range of nursing duties in our rural community including district nursing, public health nursing, practice nursing, well child nursing and palliative care.
Nurse Practitioner: demonstrate nursing leadership and provide clinical advice, care, and education. Place whānau at the centre of care, exploring health and wellbeing concerns, preferences, health behaviours, attitudes and priorities using a Kaupapa Māori strengths-based approach.
Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years’ experience, however applications are welcome from new graduates. Previous experience in rural setting or Māori health provider is desirable. You’ll need a current drivers licence and practicing certificate, with the ability to pass a police background check.
