Job Title: Share Point Specialist
Role type: Fixed-term until end Oct 2025, full-time
Location: Wellington
Salary Band: BTIS Salary Range E: $93,214 to $124,659 depending on skills and experience.

Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
You will be a key member of the project team taking MPI and its people on the journey migrating to . This programme of work will enable staff to work efficiently and productively enabling MPI to deliver its core functions with ease.
This position will collaborate with key stakeholders such as our existing and established Data and Information, Architecture and Assurance, Service Delivery, Information Security and Privacy teams as well as working with external vendor expertise to help migrate MPI's content to the cloud.

As our Share Point Specialist you will:
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise for information and data management for the Share Point 365 migration and ensure compliance with the Public Records Act for the Ministry and other relevant legislation.
  • Manage the Share Point configuration and create documentation including policy standards and guidelines
  • Monitor and stay ahead of changes to M365 Share Point, and ,
  • Support the Information Management team, and wider Data and Information team, with changes, training, and support to enable them to become in-house owners of the service.
  • Troubleshooting technical and migration support.
This is a challenging role that will give you the opportunity to use your extensive Share Point technical expertise to help make a difference to the way MPI's staff will be working.

This programme of work is already into the detailed design, so we need someone who can slot in, and help drive this project to the finish line.
You may already have contributed to a similar project within a large, complex government organisation and can bring your breadth of experience to this role.

  • Work collaboratively and confidently with a wide range of people in different situations
  • Be a team-player with excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence
  • Work under general direction within a clear framework of accountability, show awareness, comfortable working within ambiguity, responding to complexity, take ownership and provide solutions.
  • Support and promote the development of Share Point Online technical knowledge within the team
  • Show a sound understanding of management of data and information within the New Zealand government context.
  • A proven record of successful Business and IT Stakeholder management
  • Tertiary qualification or comparable experience in a field strongly aligned with the management of information and data
Mō tō mātou Rōpū - About the Team
The Data and Information team is part of Business Technology and Information Services and is responsible for managing the Ministry's core information and data, supporting and delivering analytic services, providing advice, and leading and championing the use of geospatial, unstructured, non-spatial and digital library information and data along with the associated enterprise tools.
The Information Management team is a small but mighty team of Analysts, and Senior Analysts, within the wider Data and Information Team, who focus on improving information management across MPI. This includes working to ensure MPI meets its regulatory information management obligations, and administration and support of MPI's enterprise content management system. This team is key to the migration and support of the Ministry's information to Share Point Online.

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a New Zealand citizen, who has resided continuously in New Zealand for at least the last five (5) years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
