Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Sonographer to join the Ultrasound department here at Waikato Hospital. You will play a key role in the safe, appropriate and timely delivery of ultrasound services to both Waikato Hospital inpatients and outpatients.

Day to day you will:
  • Provide high quality diagnostic scans in a timely manner.
  • Perform clerical and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Participate in the training and educational requirements of trainees and Radiology Registrars.

This is a 0.6 FTE permanent position where you will work up to 3 days per week (Monday to Friday) between the hours of 0800 – 1630. The days of work would be determined on appointment. Please note theses hours are subject to change. You will be expected to participate in an On Call roster with a minimum of 1:6 weeks on call.

Key responsibilities of the role:
  • Provide high quality timely diagnostic and readable examinations.
  • Deliver safe, respectful, effective and efficient customer service and care to all patients and service users.
  • Ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Describe ultrasound findings in a professional manner.
  • Uphold and meet MRTB registration.

The Ultrasound Department is committed to ensuring safe, appropriate and timely delivery of Sonography services, with special emphasis on clinical excellence and improved health outcomes to the patients of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Waikato. We have an excellent team environment and our success is driven by providing continuing education and support to the sonographers and communication with other specialities within the hospital.

Mōu | About you
Essential skills:
  • You must have a qualification as a Medical Sonographer, DMU certified or Post Graduate Diploma and be currently registered with the new Zealand MRTB.
  • Have a current Annual Practising Certificate.
  • You must be enrolled in an MRTB approved continuing professional development program.
  • Experienced in the implementation of Te Tiriti 0 Waitangi in action.
Desired skills:
  • Sound knowledge in IT systems and applications.
  • Vascular certification would be highly desirable.
