Sports Turf Trainee

There are a number of sports parks dotted around our spectacular Garden City. Our Metro Sports Turf team is tasked with looking after Hagley Park, including the internationally renowned Hagley Oval and our wonderful sports facilities at Nga Puna Wai, and a number of specialist sports turf surfaces throughout the city.

This is a chance to work as an important member of a dedicated and passionate team, in a supportive environment. You get to combine your love of sport and desire to work outside on a daily basis, all while gaining a national qualification. All up, we think it sounds like a pretty sweet gig.

Opportunities like this don't come knocking very often. We're offering the opportunity to develop a career in sports turf management, training alongside internationally recognised sports turf specialists whilst gaining practical agronomy experience. In addition to this, you will get the opportunity to experience a wide range of horticultural experiences including, the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Council's plant production nursery, amongst other parks management disciplines, opening up a wide range of career development options for the future.
About you | Ko Koe Tēnei
You'll have an active interest in horticulture, a level 2 certificate, and good reading and writing ability. To work outside, you'll be in tip-top physical health, and you'll love working in a team environment learning from the best.

Position - 48-month Fulltime Fixed Term Position
Location - This position is primarily based at Nga Puna Wai - Wigram
Salary - $26/per hour
